Location: Russian Federation, Southern Federal District, Republic of Crimea.

Area – 22,4 km2 (0,1% of the total territory of the republic).

Population – 25,8 thousand people.

Distance from the city of Simferopol – 155 km by rail and 120 km by road.

Krasnoperekopsk is located in the northern part of the steppe Crimea on the shore of the Lake Staroye in the southern part of the Perekopsky isthmus. Transit railways and highways pass through the city district.


The city was founded in 1932 in order to develop the natural resources of the southern part of the Perekopsky isthmus as an industrial settlement at a bromine production plant. The status of the city has been assigned in 1966.

The territory is a steppe plain with brown saline soils. In Perekop group of lakes, there are significant reserves of salt bromine and magnesium resources in the lake Sivash. Red lake with an area of 512 ha is located within the city limits. The lake's chloride waters (with a salt content of 40 g/dm3) have healing properties.

Today, Krasnoperekopsk is a large industrial center of the Crimea, belongs to a single-industry municipalities. The basis of industrial production in the region is the chemical industry, which accounts for about 60% of the total volume of industrial products sold in the city.


The main city-forming enterprises of the chemical industry:

  • PJSC «Crimean Soda Plant» − produces: soda ash of «A» and «B» brands, «Syayvo» composition (used in the production of household chemical goods), soda ash in consumer packaging, building lime, «Extra» salt, including iodized, anti-icing reagent based on calcium chloride.
  • JSC «Brom» − specializes in the production of bromine and magnesia compounds.

Machinery and equipment production:

  • branch of «U B C Kul-B» LLC − «Factory of refrigerating facilities» (refrigerator cabinets, beer coolers, beer taps, related costs);
  • «Krasnoperekopsky pipe plant» LLC (production of polyethylene pipes for gas, water supply and sewerage).

On the territory of Krasnoperekopsk there are:

  • The memorial «Three storms of Perekop», installed in city park in 1971. It is listed in the State register of national heritage monuments;
  • Mass grave of Soviet soldiers who died during the defense and liberation of the city from the fascist invaders;
  • Memorial sign for internationalist soldiers;
  • Memorial sign in honor of the passage through the Siwash, 1920;
  • Memorial sign to the Hero of the Soviet Union V.F. Margelov;
  • Monuments: V.I. Lenin; commander M.V. Frunze; academician, winner of the Lenin and State prizes, researcher in the field of salt business N.S. Kurnakov;
  • Memorial signs: in honor of the soldiers-internationalists, in honor of the liquidation of the Chernobyl NPP and in honor of the 60th anniversary of the victims of deportation.

Projects implemented within the framework of the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) in Krasnoperekopsk of the Republic of Crimea

  • reconstruction and purchase of equipment for the modernization of the pipe plant, (Investment volume: RUB 30.5 million, 43 jobs were created);
  • technical re-equipment of the complex for the production and trade of chemical products", implemented by JSC "BROM" (Investment volume: RUB 81.33 million, an additional 5 jobs were created);
  • creation and development of the production complex of LLC "RUSDETAL" (Investment volume: RUB 32.0 million, 200 jobs are being created).
