Dmitry Sheryako: The state of the Crimean economy is stable
2020 was a surprise for almost every inhabitant of the planet. Endless memes are circulating on the Internet, expressing the shock of the inhabitants of the Earth in a sarcastic form. The coronavirus has affected not only the human body, but also the macrosystems. The economy reacted most sharply. However, Crimea turned out to be very flexible, as evidenced by the final indicators of socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea for 8 months of 2020.

The introduction of the "High readiness" in April 2020 partially suspended the activities of some enterprises. Entire industries were "frozen" completely or in part. Trade, health resort complex, transport, production suffered. However, according to the Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea, a set of measures of state support, the flexibility of the business community allowed macroeconomic indicators to quickly return to normal and even exceed last year's figures for the same period.
"From the beginning, made a huge amount of tasks, including those associated with maintaining the economy of the Republic in the difficult period of the pandemic threat, solved several important problems, to develop mechanisms of development. Despite the restrictive measures related to the spread of coronavirus infection, the state of the Republic's economy is quite stable," said Dmitry Sheryako.
The Minister said that the turnover of organizations based on the results of commercial activities for 8 months of 2020 increased by more than 11% and amounted to 455 billion rubles.
Maintain the position
Traditionally, the main indicator of economic development is considered to be industry. Despite the status of the All-Russian health resort, the share of industry in the Gross Regional Product is more than 17.5%. The volume of industrial production for the first eight months of 2020 corresponds to the level of last year. At the same time, the volume of goods shipped not only did not decrease, but on the contrary, increased by 15.7% and exceeded 110.3 billion rubles.
"Enterprises of the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Crimea have not experienced the impact of restrictive measures in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection. To date, state contracts worth more than 25.5 billion rubles have been concluded and are being successfully implemented. New large state orders were received by shipbuilding enterprises", confirmed minister.
According to Krymstat, the positive dynamics in the field of animal husbandry remains in agriculture – the increase in production was 0.2%, and in agricultural organizations - 1.6%.
The transport industry has become one of the most affected, as evidenced by the decline in passenger traffic for the first eight months. At the same time, cargo transportation increased significantly — by 30.2%.
The Minister noted that due to the measures taken at the level of the Government of the Republic by the end of this year, the negative consequences caused by the impact on the economy of the Republic of restrictive measures of the "High readiness" will be partially leveled. It is predicted that positive trends will continue in the industry, and by the end of the year, production growth will be 1.6%.
Dmitry Sheryako also expressed confidence that the increase in business activity in all fields of activity can contribute to a reduction in the overall unemployment rate. By the end of the year, the indicator is expected to decrease to 6.3%, according to the results of the 2nd quarter, this figure was kept at 6.8%.
For 9 months, the implementation of 17 new investment projects totaling 2.6 billion rubles was launched in Crimea. Geographically, the projects are located in Simferopol and Simferopol district, Yalta, Leninsky district, as well as one project each in Belogorsky and Chernomorsky districts, in Alushta and in Yevpatoria.
"In the first nine months of this year, more than a dozen investors have expressed a desire to implement their projects on the territory of the peninsula. With them, the Republic signed investment agreements totaling 2.6 billion rubles. These are projects in the field of industry, resorts and tourism, agriculture, trade and services. All of them are accompanied by Crimea Development Corporation", said Dmitry Sheryako.
Among these projects, there are quite large ones. In Belogorsky district, the investor will build a complex for the processing, neutralization, disposal and placement of MSW. The total amount of investment in the project is 416 million rubles. In Leninsky district and in Sudak there will be gas stations. The amount of investment in the first project is 220 million rubles and 120 million rubles in the second project. Another large-scale project worth 371.5 million rubles to create a high-tech infrastructure for industrial cultivation of hydrobionts will appear in Chernomorsky region.
