Irina Kiviko: The Crimean government is interested in the development of electric vehicle transport on the peninsula
The Government of the Republic of Crimea is interested in the development of electric vehicle transport on the territory of the Crimean peninsula and is taking all measures to expand cooperation with public organizations engaged in the promotion and popularization of this environmentally friendly mode of transport. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers – Minister of Finance of the Republic of Crimea Irina Kiviko.
"For Crimea, as a resort region, it is important to develop environmentally friendly modes of transport. We see the development of electric vehicles as one of the main ones. The Government of the Republic is taking the necessary measures to expand its capabilities on the peninsula," Irina Kiviko said.
On behalf of the regional government, the Deputy Prime Minister signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and interaction between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea and the Association for the Development of Electric Vehicle Transport "Rustranselectro" on cooperation in the development of electric vehicles in the Republic of Crimea.
The signing ceremony of the document, which took place at the Entrepreneur's House in Simferopol, was attended by the Minister of Economic Development of the Republic Dmitry Sheryako, Acting Minister of Industrial Policy Elena Elekchyan, representatives of public organizations, business.
Due to the development of electric vehicle transport, it is planned to create 800 new jobs in the republic by 2025, including high-tech ones, to establish the production of pleasure electric cars, electric buses, public transport for street cleaning, to organize tourist services in parks, nature reserves, palace complexes, embankments. It is planned to produce cross-country electric vehicles for organizing tours in remote areas, in nature reserves.
There will be electric trucks for local transportation of goods within cities. The construction of charging stations and specialized maintenance stations will be arranged.
In 2017, a territorial cluster "Production of local electric transport" was created in the Republic of Crimea, the membership of which continues to expand. Currently, 40 charging stations have been built in Crimea, 290 passenger electric transport units have been registered.
