Irina Kiviko: Electric vehicles transported more than 1 million tourists in Crimea

More than 1 million tourists were transported in Crimea by electric vehicles in 2021, 40 charging stations were built. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers – Minister of Finance of the Republic of Crimea Irina Kiviko.

"Great news: last year, more than 1 million tourists were transported by electric vehicles in the resort regions of Crimea for the first time. We are moving towards the fulfillment of the main goal - to make Crimea the first electric car resort in Russia," Irina Kiviko said at the presentation of the Association for the Development of Electric Vehicle Transport "Rustranselectro".

She recalled that Crimea was identified as one of the priority regions in the Russian Federation for the development of electric vehicle transport.

"We have ambitious goals - to build up to 125 charging stations in the republic by 2024. As of today, 40 charging stations have already been built in the republic. The plans for this year include the construction of 50 charging stations, 10 of them on the "Tavrida" highway," Irina Kiviko stressed.

She recalled that increased attention is paid to the development of environmentally friendly electric vehicle transport in Crimea, as a tourist and resort region. In 2017, a territorial cluster "Production of local electric transport" was created in the Republic of Crimea, the membership of which continues to expand. The cluster belongs to the industrial sector and its main products are commercial electric vehicles and small electric-powered vessels.

The Crimean enterprise "Eltavr" has developed and is producing a light electric truck in various modifications, which can be used in sanatoriums, cottage settlements, communal services. Deliveries are carried out so far to Russian state and private enterprises, but it is planned to export to neighboring countries. In total, the company has produced more than 150 cars since 2017. In 2021, the company received a patent for the first high-efficiency low-noise traction electric motor produced in the republic and a trademark certificate issued by Rospatent.

In addition, since 2007, the operation of tourist pleasure electric cars along the embankments and palace complexes has been developing in Crimea, the leading operator of such services is the SVYATEKO company.

On May 20, 2021, the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov signed an order on the establishment of a working group on the development of electric transport in the Republic of Crimea, headed by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers – Minister of Finance of the Republic of Crimea Irina Kiviko.
